  • Oppose: ethnicity by gender categories are widespread (e.g.
    WP:OCEGRS, which doesn't actually provide a gender example. If the proposer wishes to change / define policy in this area, it would be better to start with a major category that will attract proper discussion, rather than one like this which few will notice). Gender is important in Maori culture and people are regularly noted specifically as being tane Maori or wahine Maori (Maori men or Maori women). The nominator has been preemptively moving men out of this category to Category:Māori tribal leaders, but the latter are sometimes women, so unless this category is deleted, these changes should be reverted.
