Original – Newsreel footage covering the Doolittle Raid
Reason
A Castle Films Newsreel discussing the Doolittle Raid, including interviews and footage from the task force ships involved in the air raid - notably, the film captures the first ever bomber raid launched from carrier ships, as
B-25 Mitchell
aircraft to a distance from which they could strike the Empire of Japan's home island. A veritable gold mine for historians, the footage is irreplaceable in every sense of the word and historically valuable in every sense of the phrase, hence the nomination here.
