Suspected sockpuppets

Comrade Sourav was blocked on 10 January. the new Cpiml Liberation Belgharia account was created on 14 January. In their 33 edits, they overlap on 6 different articles, and also there is a vote at AFD of article created by Sourav.

The comrade account identified as "CPIML LIBERATION North 24 Pgs district comittee. Sonar Bangla, Desha Priya Nagar Kolkata - 58". The new account identifies as "CPIML LIBERATION BELGHARIA LOCAL COMITTEE". This is similar. Pikavoom Talk 09:33, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Blocked based on behaviour and CU log remnants. Not to be too
    beans-y, but the account was created days after the last SPI closed, the article overlap is significant, and anyone used to comparing user edits can see how the behavioural dovetails. Suspected sockpuppets

Ratna Dey went active after last blocks. Recreating Subrata Dutta, created by blocked sock Sudip Karmakar23. Editing Leba Chand Tudu created by Sudip Karmakar23. Editing All India Students Association and Vinod Mishra edited by Comrade Sourav and Sudip Karmakar23. Similar edit summaries and all their edits so far overlap with previous socks here.

Sukanta Bhattacharya67 has a different behaviour, most of their activity is uploading CPIML material to Commons (much of it is deleted), and on the English Wikipedia inserting it into articles created and maintained by socks here. So image upload at Revolutionary Youth Association, edited previously by Comrade Sourav. On Vinod Mishra, edited by previous socks, they fixed Ratna Dey's previous edit after a bit of page move trickery. Note identical edit summary of "Updated" and minor flag. On Subrata Dutta, created by Ratna Dey, they uploaded a file an hour after it was created. On Dipankar Bhattacharya they uploaded a file after the file uploaded by Sudip Karmakar23 was deleted. If this isn't the same person as Ratna Dey, they are coordinating.

Another point of similarity between Sudip Karmakar23 and Sukanta Bhattacharya67 is their undeleted commons contributions Sudip_Karmakar23 commons Sukanta_Bhattacharya67 commons which use identical tools and style as well as creating claims similiarly for their uploads [1] vs. [2]. I also posted Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/Comrade Sourav, based on the Commons similarities between Comrade Sourav, Sudip Karmakar23, and Sukanta Bhattacharya67. It looks like these accounts are being serially abandoned on Commons, but they are uploading alot there. Pikavoom Talk 11:45, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
More from today. Ratna Dey posted today in their 17th edit Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Somnath Chatterjee), a nicely formatted article on a very small breakaway splinter party by Somnath Chatterjee Ukhra (not the Somnath Chatterjee). The link here to Comrade Sourav is that the comrade repeatedly tried to create the bio at Somnath Chatterjee Cpiml and Somnath Chatterjee Ukhra, deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Somnath Chatterjee Cpiml as part of bunch of AfD nominations that led Comrade Sourav to make legal threats against the nominator and various other actions (ANI).   2. This builds upon prior vandalism of Abhinav disambiguation page by attempting to hijack it into an article for a non-notable entity & its spillovers into Abhinav (disambiguation) page by WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Metaverse Yadav's socks.

  • Note concurrent report at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Metaverse Yadav with Logic RST, who is obviously a sock in one of these cases. I think both cases should be merged as telling these two apart, if they are two, as behaviourally they are very close and CU says they are on the same ISP.
