Suspected sockpuppets

Evidence submitted by A Nobody

I have noticed something suspicious with an IP and account:

  • The above listed IP, which has a British Whois route, has just made a flurry of rapid fire delete votes in Afds nominated by or commented in by User:Dwanyewest, who lists Britain as his home on his userpage. The IP has next to no edits beyond these particular AfDs and has comments worded similar to those of the nominator: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], and [6]. The nominator had earlier added delete votes to some of these discussions in addition to his initial nominations (see [7] and [8]) and so using an IP (perhaps just logged out?) to do the same does not seem like that much of a leap. It is unlikely in any event that an IP who is not some existing editor would show up in a specific flurry of AfDs to say to delete (we do get that with fans of something who say to keep, but not so much on the delete side). Moreover, in the minority of non-AfD edits that the IP has made it is to the same page as last edited by Dwanyewest: [9].
  • The account User:ArticlesForRedemption has been blocked indefinitely. This account also has an interest in British related articles: see [10] and [11] for example. The IP, which is again from Britain, has just shown up in an AFD nominated by this recently indeffed account: [12].

Thus, I am concerned that the IP is being used as a sock IP to vote stack. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 16:33, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • It appears more likely to me that the sockmaster for this SPI would be the blocked user ArticlesForRedemption (talk · contribs), in which case it would fall under code letter E (Evasion of community-based bans or blocks). Wine Guy~Talk 18:09, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Articles for Redemption's very first edit was only on 16 February 2010, whereas the other account started editing much earlier than that. Thus, I am going by the oldest account. On another note, given that Articles for Redemption's very first edit was indeed to start an AfD as well is further suspicious. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 18:16, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • You're right, sorry. I misread the contrib page for Dwanyewest. Need more coffee. Wine Guy~Talk 18:43, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
