El cid, el campeador just struck their own edits at
User talk:Kingofaces43 stating in the edit summaries that they were a blocked sock. The user also placed a retired template on their own user and TP. Marteau also marked their pages in the same manner before banned as a sock master. An edit interaction report [1] shows a remarkable number of unusual common pages edited in similar manners. - (edit conflict)The reason I looked into this is the “admission” on two pages that the editor is a sock and the striking of many edits. It was possible that this was some sort of disruptive protest, and possible it was not. Marteau stuck out because they both edited 54 pages, many of them quite obscure, like Naked mole-rat, Pickleball, and YKK (a Japanese zipper company). The also expressed frustration editing negative info into article Neil deGrasse Tyson. Marteau also suddenly placed a retired template on their page (ten days for being blocked as a sock) expressing frustration. This is similar to El Cid. Marteau had four socks, possibly suggesting a future return. Having said all that; I do not see much similarity in their edit counter reports. But, I couldn’t let the odd self-reverts go without bringing it somewhere, and this seemed the place. O3000 (talk) 14:42, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Objective3000: - What? Something seemed odd, so you reported me as being a sock since we both indicated ourselves as retired? You cannot make baseless accusations, especially something as serious as sockpuppetry. I have seriously considered reporting you to ANI or some mechanism for making a bad-faith report without sufficient evidence, and now you are trying to explain how it somehow made sense? I'll admit, I reverted vandalism on naked-mole rat, a very often vandalized page. I'll admit, we both made edits to articles 2 years apart. Can we acknowledge how ludicrious this accusation is? Not only is it baseless, it's ridiculously so. The editor interaction shows we edited some of the same pages, 2 years apart. - @Bbb23: - the Neil Tyson talk page repulsed me to the extent that I need at least a temporary break from WP. I removed all my comments from that talk page thread because everything I said was futile and I no longer want anything to do with what's occurring there. I said 'rm comments of banned/blocked' user as a sort of tongue in cheek joke. I never figured anyone would take it seriously, considering I am not banned and was removing my own comments. However, one of the talk page frequenters decided that I reminded him of someone banned 6 months ago who had no similarities with my own editing. I hope that explains it.
