Source counting is the dubious practice of listing or simply enumerating sources that contain a certain term or phrase to bolster one's argument. The practice is often the last refuge of editors who are themselves not effective researchers and instead would like to replace poorly executed

reliability of the sources
being considered.

Unfortunately, such source counters are difficult to engage in discussion as they tend to insist that the only possible counter to their

collaboration
of editors.
