Welcome to the February 2012 edition of your military history newsletter, the Bugle. The project's most prestigious award, the
"Military historian of the Year," was voted on and awarded last month. The accolade is given to the editor who is judged by their peers to have made the most significant impact on the subject of military history on Wikipedia. In an Australian sweep, AustralianRupert has won the Golden Wiki, while Ian Rose and Nick-D

In other news, the former Russian and Soviet military history task force has been renamed to the

to better focus on the open tasks, such as reviews. They have also eliminated the review notices to the main project talk page, as the page has enough traffic even without a plethora of notices.

- The contest department completed its fifty-sixth round of competition last month. A total of 42 articles were submitted by 6 editors. Parsecboy came first with 161 points from 22 entries, followed by Ian Rose with 41 points from 5 entries. They receive the Chevrons and the Writer's Barnstar, respectively. Honourable mentions go to Djmaschek and Sturmvogel 66, with 32 and 28 points respectively. Cuprum17 and The Bushranger also fielded entries.
