On behalf of the coordinators of the IX Coordinator Tranche, we welcome you to a redesigned Bugle! We believe that the new format will allow us to cover the news and current events of the project more thoroughly, but comments, feedback, and ideas are welcome
In other news, we are currently in the process of setting up a new working group which would be centered on outreach activities. Among the various wikiprojects currently operating on Wikipedia, Milhist is unique for a number of reasons; one is our lack of an outreach department to manage membership affairs. Our original Outreach Department was mothballed due to low participation, but this left us with little in the way of outreach coordination. The proposed working group is the brainchild of
Finally, the quarterly report to the project concerning our Black Project articles has been compiled. Since the last report the black project field has expanded to include three new articles, two of which are currently located in the user namespace. Although most articles covered by the working group have seen little activity over the past three months, a handful have been cited for problems relating to inadequate sourcing and pop culture guidelines. A new working group, titled the
- The archives divisionwill be a central repository of important discussions and debates that have occurred in the project over the years.
- The news and editorials divisionwill produce articles and editorial pieces for the project monthly newsletter, and provide a central venue for members to comment on and contribute to the newsletter.
- The statistics and observations divisionwill compile and maintain historical statistics regarding the project and its activities.
In addition the working group will develop policy proposals, essays and Academy articles for the project. We see this working group as an important new initiative in helping to guide the direction of milhist, and to ensure it remains relevant to our members' needs and to Wikipedia's development. Discussion about the group's role and functions is ongoing, so comment is welcome
