Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Nerf (computer gaming) (2nd nomination)

There are very many sources for online discussion (see any MMORPG's online forums) where "nerf" is used heavily as a noun and as a verb. Certainly these would be adequate references for a discussion of nerf in an informal chat or even more formal online discussion. However, these discussions seem inappropriate as sources for what I light-heartedly consider one of the more important resources on the web. Once "nerf" makes it into the OED, then it should certainly have a home in a dictionary... but even then, does it belong in a general purpose encyclopdia? sinneed (talk) 21:54, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please accept my apologies for the fact that this is a "2nd nomination" even though purists will note that there never was a proper 1st effort. I was too new to wiki, and simply failed at the submission process. Hopefully, with the corrections made by user:Thumperward(Thanks Again), this will be more "useful", either in killing the article off or bringing it some editorial help. Any errors in the process are mine. sinneed (talk) 22:11, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder (looking at the large-ish number of gaming links to this page) if a better idea than deletion might be to simply stub the article and warn that it is a neologism used informally in online gaming. Then interested editors could simply keep unsourced material out. sinneed (talk) 22:33, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
