Great essay

I like this essay because it communicates that Wikipedia has a culture. I think we need more cultural products like this to establish that idea.

Wikipedia has a strong culture which works in a lot of ways, such that people in the culture can identify others who are in or out of it, and also people within the culture have high precision in making like-minded assessments of what is and is not aligned with the culture. We still barely have documentation for the correct ways of onboarding new users to practice wiki-behavior and we still rely on people experiencing Wikipedia to learn it. Despite the lack of clearly written rules, somehow people typically come to agreement often.

I think that explaining Wikipedia as a culture is a great way to introduce how things work here. Blue Rasberry (talk) 20:51, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
