Discussion regarding Kurt's oppose

Nominee and several others have asked that this discussion end at this venue. Take it to your own user pages if you want it to continue. Horologium (talk) 13:28, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok Kurt. This takes the cake. What exactly are you trying to say here? That the candidate is incapable of independent thought? Also, curiously enough, the case could easily be made that you are a robot because you are incapable of communicating on this website without the aid of a machine. If you want to oppose people for no good reason, I suppose that is your decision to make. But blanketly stating that another human being is utterly incapable of independent thought is going waaaaaay overboard. Thingg 19:25, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Really now, would it kill you all to take a minute and think about what I may be referring to, instead of either (a) jumping to ridiculous conclusions, or (b) simply echoing the ludicrous assertions of the first person who jumped to conclusions rather than bothering to think things through? Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 19:41, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Kurt, could you please explain me why are you opposing RFAs with stupid arguments like "robot", "Username" or "RFA gamer"? This is fairly ridiculous and stupid, not counting you're "self-nom" opposes. Also, SQL's tool says that you've opposed 133 RFAs, most of them with silly arguments.

How about you refrain from calling other's people's arguments stupid as it derails the conversation from the candidate. Have a problem with kurt? Take it his talk page. If it continues, this will be moved to the talk page. Wisdom89 (T / C) 20:13, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Wisdom. Kurt opposes a lot of RFAs. So what? There's nothing new here, and it is long been decided that it is his prerogative to make opposes like that. Although I would not have said it the same way he did, I freely admit that I make a lot of robot-like edits. (But I do think I could pass a Turing test rather easily ;) )J.delanoygabsadds 20:20, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would appreciate it if this conversation was closed. Many, many people have given their opinions on this, and Kurt has been the subject of more than one ANI report. It has been repeatedly decided that Kurt is entitled to his opinions. I do not think that razzing him on every single RFA he comments in is appropriate; in any case I know that it will not change anything. If you had an opinion on a subject, and you gave it in a venue where it is appropriate for you to give it, how would you feel if you knew that every single time you hit "save page", you would be subjected to a massive pile of criticism? J.delanoygabsadds 21:49, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Might make me reconsider my opinion, actually. :-)

I have, many a time. So far, I've found no compelling reason to convince me that my reasons for opposing are not valid indicators of a candidate's lack of ability to perform well. Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 03:20, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
These kind of comments are why I have absolutely no respect for Kurt's arguments in RfAs and simply ignore them as childish posturing. Tim Vickers (talk) 22:02, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As I said on another RfA, please stop assaulting Kurt and burying him under useless sarcastic comments. Why does every oppose he issues have to be blown up into a talk page thread? Just AGF and lay off him. Erik the

  • Okay, I'll admit that I don't understand what Kurt is trying to say and I'd really like him to elaborate. Pretty please?--Fabrictramp | talk to me 22:50, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think what Kurt is saying (and correct me if I'm wrong, Kurt) is that he objects to the user's almost complete reliance on automated tools such as Huggle to make edits. Erik the

Precisely. Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 03:20, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why not say that next time, then? One should say presicely what they mean, rather than using such vague labels. It may cause others to take offence, even if it wasn't intended. Please Kurt, be more specific next time—that'll save us another useless quarrel. —
