RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race winners

I was looking at

Queen Eleza Beth, a name taken *just* for the episode have Category:Drag Race (franchise) winners rather than the person under the Drag Hayley Kiyoko be the one linked. I propose that all Secret Celebrity Drag Race winners should be in that category on their non-drag name instead.Naraht (talk
) 18:16, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Unless there are objections here in the next day or so, I will remove the redirects from the category, create a category for the Secret Celebrity winners and put the winners in that.Naraht (talk) 18:06, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
@Naraht OK if I archive this section? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:28, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Updated list with missing queens

Dax ExclamationPoint

Below is a list of all the queens who do not yet have a Wikipedia page. This list is limited only to RuPaul's Drag Race contestants, as well as international contestants who have an article in the Spanish version.

S8 - Dax ExclamationPoint  Done

S6 - Magnolia Crawford

S5 - Lineysha Sparx  Done & Vivienne Pinay

S4 - Kenya Michaels, The Princess, Alisa Summers

S3 - Phoenix

S1 - Rebecca Glasscock, Jade, Akashia

The Switch - Botota Fox (es), Nicole Gaultier (es), Sofía Camará (es)

--Peridotito (talk) 09:05, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Quite a while back, I made a Rebecca Glasscock page that got deleted. :( Cornmazes (talk) 18:53, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
Rebecca Glasscock is almost certainly the least notable finalist in RPDR and in the running for least notable queen on RPDR overall. Put me on team "Not every queen to have been on RPDR is wikinotable enough for a page".Naraht (talk) 19:15, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
I agree, not every contestant deserves a Wikipedia entry, but I definitely appreciate having a list of contestants without one. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:37, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
I agree as well. I can’t exactly argue that Rebecca, Alisa, Magnolia, Phoenix, or Vivienne would pass

New entry for Dax ExclamationPoint ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:42, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

I noticed commons:Category:RuPaul's DragCon NYC 2017 only has one subcategory, for Raja, if project members want to help identify and create subcategories for other queens and notable people. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:23, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

More recent seasons & Queens

With the most recent addition of June Jambalaya, Seasons 12-15 of RPDR are done (Mostly due to Another Believer, Well done!). The remaining uncompleted season with queens not yet done (or who aren't notable are)

  • S11 - Mercedes Iman Diamond
  • S10 - Kalorie Karbdashian Williams
  • S8 - Dax ExclamationPoint
  • S7 - Jaidynn Diore Fierce, Max
  • S6 - Magnolia Crawford
  • S5 - Lineysha Sparx, Vivienne Pinay & Penny Tration
  • S4 - Kenya Michaels, DiDa Ritz, Milan, Madam LaQueer, The Princess, Lashauwn Beyond, Alisa Summers
  • S3 - Stacy Layne Matthews, Phoenix
  • S2 - Mystique Summers Madison, Nicole Paige Brooks
  • S1 - Rebecca Glasscock, Jade, Akashia

For S4, ones with pages boil down to the finalists (Sharon Needles, Chad Michaels & Phi Phi O'Hara), the Miss C (Latrice), Willam (who compared to the other "disqualified" queens seems like tee-hee joke now), and Jiggly Caliante, who did AS and now a judge on DR:Philippines. (And for Alisa Summers, Even Out Magazine's "12 Queens Who Quit or Retired From Drag After 'RuPaul's Drag Race'" doesn't have much info.)Naraht (talk) 09:24, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Based only off of my personal opinions, I feel like only Jaidynn, DiDa, and maybe Milan would pass the notability test. Cornmazes (talk) 19:07, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

Stacy Layne Matthews
For the Pinknews, it looks like the mentions over the years are S3, the AS4 guest positions, the supposed casting and uncasting on AS5, the issues with being forced out of her apartment in 2021 and quitting drag. I don't think quitting drag makes a difference as to whether she gets a page.Naraht (talk) 22:15, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
I agree, just sharing an update based on recent news. I'll look into the possibility of creating an entry for Stacy Layne Matthews when I'm home from my travels, unless someone beats me to the punch. ---Another Believer (Talk) 08:12, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
I guess quitting Drag counts as an event that would be an article, she certainly seemed to do it in a newsworthy way. Might be interesting to see how often some of these queens get mentioned recently in pink news.Naraht (talk) 12:27, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
I've expanded Stacy Layne Matthews. Improvements welcome! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:43, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
And I've done the linking to the page. More links to(about 10!) than for most of the queens that I've done that with recently, but that's probably the amount of time that has passed for her to work with others and the fact that she is a US Queen, so more activity is likely to show up.
@Naraht: Thanks! Also, don't forget your signature here :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:53, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

CoverGurlz

I was not familiar with CoverGurlz or CoverGurlz 2 until today:

If I'm understanding correctly, these tracks should be included in Discography sections of articles for each queen. Searching "CoverGurlz" on Wikipedia shows inclusion in some biographies, but not across the board.

I'm not one of them, but I know there are a couple project members who are great at creating and maintaining the Filmography and Discography tables across queen bios. Anyone here interested in taking on the task of adding CoverGurlz tracks to all involved? ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:52, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

@Another Believer, just of curiosity, whenever the contestants do a song for the franchise, wouldn't be considered a promotional single? Because the songs are promoting the franchise, right? — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 02:16, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
Promotional single says, "A promotional single ... is a single that is made available to radio stations, nightclubs, music publications, and other media outlets by a record label to promote a commercial single or album." I see these as compilation albums by RuPaul featuring queens as guests (or "featured" artists). ---Another Believer (Talk

www.atresplayer.com uses "Drag Race España: All Stars" (with a colon). This is not consistent with RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, so not sure whether or not the colon should be included when the page is moved into main space. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:55, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Although if you check the account's social media posts, it doesn't include the colon. Let's leave like that for now. If someone have an issue about it, we can discuss about! — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 18:28, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

I didn't create the original list, but 'm not opposed to expanding by adding The Switch and/or judges from various iterations of Drag Race, too. These are all missing biographies associated with the franchise. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:03, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

I would also welcome interlanguage links, like I've added for Kam Hugh, so we know which bios exist in languages other than English. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:04, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, I had added an interlanguage link for Kam Hugh, but then created a new article, so this can no longer be used as an example. ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:00, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
Added an interlanguage link for Alisa Summers, instead. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:47, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

"None"

@Naraht: I wanted to explain this revert a bit more. I see the missing biographies section as more of a "to do" list than a space to say where things are complete. The list of Drag Race franchises continues to grow and I prefer to keep the section as small as possible. That being said, if other project members think listing every franchise (even those without missing biographies) is helpful, I don't want to override consensus. Let me know if you disagree, thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:26, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Another Believer If I thought that the list (or even entry) would remain static, I'd agree, but I expect that DRES:S4 will reveal its list of queens within the next three months (casting started earlier in the year for S4 than S3, so I'm guessing first episode in March or April of 2024. I'm also presuming we get there with multiple countries being listed as none. On another topic, adding "The Switch" is likely to add more than any other country right now, I believe.Naraht (talk) 16:45, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
I welcome The Switch, DRES:S4 (when announced), and other names to the list, but I don't think we need "none" placeholders. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:51, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Short term idea on Drag Names and sorting

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

I think that creating a hatnote for the Drag Names would be useful, something like what is in Category:Hatnote_templates_for_names. I'm not sure any of those exactly match what is needed here, but we can make our own. I'd like to use Bianca Del Rio, BenDelaCreme, Dwayne Cooper (Milan) and Monica Beverly Hillz as samples.

Something like "In this article, the person is referred to by their drag name: Bianca Del Rio. The ending part of the drag name should not be used as a Last Name and the person should be referred to by their entire drag name when referring to the performer while in their drag persona"

Capitalize the phrase "drag name"? Have *different* a different hatnote for Dwayne Cooper, we could probably use an argument to indicate that the article name shouldn't be used, but rather a specific drag name?Naraht (talk) 19:26, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

@Naraht I welcome this sort of discussion at WikiProject Drag Race. However, I wonder if WikiProject LGBT studies would be a better venue for this discussion. This is important and should be seen by a wider group of editors, as the issue applies to many entries outside the scope of WikiProject Drag Race. If you prefer to have the discussion here, then I can share some ideas. But, if you prefer to start the discussion at WikiProject LGBT studies, we can archive this one. Let me know your preference, thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:31, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Should all contestants be changed so that category sorts are under full drag/monster name rather than a "Last Name"?Naraht (talk) 17:53, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
I say yes. There are some exceptions to this rule but I think sorting by full name should be the default for drag performers. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:59, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Done. I've added the following note in place of a default sort.<!--Drag name, no defaultsort other than full article name-->Naraht (talk) 18:46, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! I wish there was a way to flag the sorting problem. I get tired of changing the default sorts for drag performers, when editors keep changing to (incorrectly) sort by fake "last name". This happens for both category sorting and the "listas" parameter for WikiProject Biography. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:51, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
@Naraht Thanks for starting this discussion: Wikipedia:Village_pump_(idea_lab)#Looking_for_a_common_way_to_indicate_no_last_name_for_sorting. Curious to see what other editors say. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:12, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Bandit

Bandit, a contestant from season two of Drag Race Thailand, has passed away. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 17:45, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

There are rumors swirling around that Bandit from Drag Race Thailand season 2 has passed away. There are no official press releases yet, only social media condolences and comments. We’ll have to watch the situation closely and see what happens, I guess. Cornmazes (talk) 17:45, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

@Cornmazes@JuanGLP Thanks for the heads up. We might decide to redirect if there's not enough coverage, but I welcome collaboration at Bandit (drag queen). ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:01, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

Rusicals category?

Right now, most but not all of the episodes that there are articles for are Rusicals, and they exist in both the RPDR Episode list and the RPDRAS Episode list. I figure that the list of those in there is the same as those linked in Rusical plus Rusical itself with a catsort of a space to put it at the beginning.Naraht (talk) 15:29, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

 Done I've created Category:Rusicals ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:33, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

I probably should have phrased that as "Does anyone want me to..." :) Thanx.Naraht (talk) 16:16, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
No prob! I think this is a helpful subcategory. Good suggestion ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:09, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
I'm trying to think of other "Categories" that would be used for episodes (if we had *every* episode with an article) (and this would be only based on maxi challenge).
  • Snatch Game
  • Makeover
  • Roast (Comedy show?)
  • Create new verses for a RuPaul song (*has* to be a shorter description)
Everything beyond that is even *more* diffuse like "make and act in...". Also, do we have an article for *any* episode in the franchise other than in RPDR and RPDRAS?Naraht (talk) 17:41, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
In theory, there could be episodes about individual episodes featuring Snatch Game, if there's enough secondary coverage to justify. In the meantime, I've slowly been working to expand Snatch Game. I doubt there will ever be a need for subcategories of other types of challenges. If episode entries were created for non-U.S. adaptations, there could potentially be subcategories like Category:Drag Race France episodes. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:47, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Episode Redirects

Do we add the episode redirect for the Rusical episodes like

Squirrels Trip: The Rusical which is simply a redirect to the season it was in for Canada? (I know redirects are cheap, but having redirects for the episode titles just doesn't seem necessary. Not worth multiple RFDs though.Naraht (talk
) 17:46, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

I think episode titles should redirect readers to the appropriate season article. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:49, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
OK, but should a redirect have the Rusical category added to it?Naraht (talk) 18:01, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
I tend not to add categories to redirects, but I have not read Wikipedia:Categorizing redirects in detail. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:08, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Gran Hotel de las Reinas: Histeria de un Crimen

I see a recording of this stage production was added to WOW Presents Plus. Should this production be mentioned in stage and/or film tables for all participants? Perhaps there are better sources to use. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:59, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Since the production is closely related to the Spanish adaptation, it could have its own article. If there's no enough sources to be an article, the production should be mentioned under "Post-production" i.e. Canada's Drag Race. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 13:58, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Wanted: Promotional poster at Drag Race Thailand

Anyone able to add promotional artwork to the Drag Race Thailand infobox? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:52, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

@Another Believer, we might want to wait until season three... I checked the press released from World of Wonder and there is nothing. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 14:59, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
OK! I would think we'd need to wait for Season 3 promotional artwork, but not an image for the franchise in general. I'm sure one will be uploaded eventually! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:31, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Reassessments

Since we started the new year, I think we should reassess some articles since they're considered "Stub" or "Start" articles. Maybe some of the articles could be "C" articles (or... "Good" articles). 👀 Please add anything else that should be reassessed!

  • RuPaul's Drag Race (season 12)
  • RuPaul's Drag Race (season 13)
  • RuPaul's Drag Race (season 14)
  • RuPaul's Drag Race (season 15)
  • RuPaul's Drag Race UK (series 4)

JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 00:05, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

@Another Believer, is it possible to nominate one the seasons from the Drag Race franchise a good article? — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 14:08, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
I have never nominated an article about a TV show season for Good status. You might want to search for season articles at Category:GA-Class television articles, to see some examples. You might also ask for feedback at WikiProject Television, as there may be editors there who are more familiar with Good article requirements for TV show pages. You'll want to make sure the Drag Race entries meet these criteria, and here are the instructions for nominating if you decide you take the plunge. Sometimes you just gotta try and be willing to reply to the feedback provided by reviewing editors. I hope this helps! I would love to see more Drag Race-related entries promoted to Good article status, but prefer to work on queen biographies. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:11, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Referring to Brooke Lynn Hytes

Pronouns for Victoria Scone

Over at Talk:Victoria Scone, I noted that Victoria Scone came out as non-binary on Bring Back My Girls. I am not sure if this can/should be used to change pronouns in the Wikipedia entry. Curious if other project members know of helpful sources re: preferred gender pronouns. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:35, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Creation of Fake season pages in Userspace.

What is the proper response when a user has created a fake page for a season of RPDR in their userspace. I'm not talking about let's copy a current season and see how a change looks, this is creating a season with all of the queens who have never been on RPDR.

WP:FAKEARTICLE would seem to apply and while I'm fine with using that, I thought I'd check in to see if someone has an idea for a gentler method (most editors who do *that* level of work might be able to contribute constructively).Naraht (talk
