Offseason
- November 19, 1996: Albert Belle signed as a free agent with the Chicago White Sox.[1]
- January 14, 1997: Doug Drabek was signed as a free agent with the Chicago White Sox.[2]
- February 7, 1997: Danny Darwin signed as a free agent with the Chicago White Sox.[3]
