History
These brigades participated in Operation Dispersive Illusion (
Arabic: الوهم المتبدد), which resulted in the capture of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. The group is also known for blowing up a Merkava tank,[2] the main battle tank of the Israel Defense Forces
.
The brigades fought during the
Gaza War
from December 2008 to January 2009.
The group also took part in the
Gaza–Israel clashes in November 2018.[4]
In December 2023, the brigades reportedly engaged in combat with the Israel Defense Forces in Khan Yunis on the southern front of the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.[5]
