Club career

Granada

Born in Málaga, Andalusia, Zaragoza joined Granada CF's youth setup in 2019, from hometown side CD Conejito de Málaga.[1] On 29 May 2020, after finishing his formation, he renewed his contract until 2022,[2] and was loaned to Segunda División B side CD El Ejido on 23 September.[3]

Upon returning in July 2021, Zaragoza was assigned to

Segunda División RFEF. He made his first-team debut on 30 November, coming on as a half-time substitute in a 7–0 away routing of CD Laguna de Tenerife in the season's Copa del Rey.[4][5]

On 14 January 2022, Zaragoza renewed his contract until 2024.[6] He made his professional debut on 12 September, replacing Myrto Uzuni in a 4–0 Segunda División away loss against SD Eibar.[7][8]

Zaragoza scored his first professional goal on 18 November 2022, netting his team's third in a 4–0 home routing of Albacete Balompié. On 29 May of the following year, after helping the Nazaríes in their promotion to La Liga as champions, he further extended his link until 2027, being definitely promoted to the main squad.[9]

Zaragoza made his debut in the top tier of Spanish football on 14 August 2023, playing the last 9 minutes in a 3–1 away loss to Atlético Madrid.[10] He scored his first goal in the category twelve days later, netting Granada's second in a 3–2 home win over RCD Mallorca.[11]

On 8 October 2023, Zaragoza scored a brace in a 2–2 home draw against FC Barcelona,[12] equaling the number of goals scored in the previous campaign (5) in just nine matches. During the first half of the 2023–24 campaign, he managed to be one of the top ten for most successful dribbles in the top European competitions.[13]

Bayern Munich

On 6 December 2023, after playing very well against FC Barcelona, Bundesliga club Bayern Munich decided that Zaragoza would be an excellent addition to their squad in case they faced Barca again. He would join them at the start of the 2024–25 season, with the Spaniard set to sign a contract until 30 June 2029.[14] The transfer fee paid by the Germans was reported to be €15,000,000.[15] However, the player joined the club earlier, on 1 February 2024, to replace the injured Kingsley Coman, on a loan deal, for which Bayern paid around €4,000,000 as compensation to Granada.[16][17]

International career

On 8 October 2023, Zaragoza was called up to the Spain national team by manager Luis de la Fuente for two UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group A matches against Scotland and Norway;[18] he became the first Granada player to be called up since Ángel Castellanos in 1974.[19] He made his full international debut four days later, replacing Mikel Oyarzabal at half-time in a 2–0 win over Scotland.[20]
