Pitanga was born in

African descent on her father's and mother's side.[5][6]

Camila studied at Pentagono College and she is a director of Human Rights Movement.[7]

Camila is an

atheist.[8] In 2001, she married the art director Claudio Amaral Peixoto. On 19 May 2008 she gave birth to her first daughter Antonia. The girl's name was a tribute to her father. In 2011, the couple separated.[9][10]
