History

Before the mall opened,

outlet mall before being demolished in the late 1990s.[3]

Champlain Centre opened July 1, 1987. In addition to the new JCPenney store, it was anchored by

Ames following that chain's acquisition of Hills.[4] Ames closed in 2002 with the chain's bankruptcy, and the space became Target in 2008.[5]

Rex Appliances closed in 2005 and

Gander Outdoors was turned into an Ollie's Bargain Outlet which opened in November 2020. Kohl's opened in the mall in late September 2019. Best Buy closed its doors in October 2021. In October 2023, Ross Dress For Less opened in the former Best Buy. Also, in October 2023, Pyramid Malls defaulted on the loan and Champlain Centre was foreclosed on. On March 26, 2024, a public auction was held for the property and Deutsche Bank National Trust Company
is the owner of the mall. Deutsche Bank National Trust Company is also the bank that held the loan for the mall. On May 7, 2024, Pacific Retail Capital Partners now manages the mall.
