History

As early as 1827, the area was referred to as Patterson's Mills.[4] Clifton was platted in 1840, and named for the nearby cliffs on the Little Miami River.[5] A post office called Clifton has been in operation since 1832.[6]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.19 square miles (0.49 km2), of which, 0.18 square miles (0.47 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.[7]

The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.05.

The median age in the village was 45.5 years. 22.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 19% were from 25 to 44; 37.6% were from 45 to 64; and 13.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 46.1% male and 53.9% female.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.8% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 24.0% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who were 65 years of age or older.
