The DA-88 was a

Hi8 video cassettes, allowing up to 108 minutes of continuous recording on a single tape.[3][4]

In 1995, the TASCAM DA-88 won the

Emmy award for technical excellence.[5] The affordability and digital format of the DA-88 led to sales of more than 60,000 units by 1999. At that time, it was the biggest product in the history of TASCAM.[6]
Because of its reliability and durability, the DA-88 and its subsequent fellow units continue to be used by aficionados.
