David R. Stone

David Russell Stone (born 1968) is an American military historian and the

U.S. Naval War College.[1]

Stone received a

Marshall D. Shulman Book Prize of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies and the Best First Book Prize of the Historical Society for his first book, Hammer and Rifle: The Militarization of the Soviet Union, 1926-1933.[3][4] He specializes in the military history of Russia and the Soviet Union. He has written a number of books and several dozen historical articles and book chapters on Russian and Soviet military history and foreign policy.[5][6]
