Deara is located at 22°38′25″N 88°29′15″E / 22.640278°N 88.4875°E.
Area overview
The area covered in the map alongside is largely a part of the north Bidyadhari Plain. located in the lower Ganges Delta.[1] The country is flat. It is a little raised above flood level and the highest ground borders the river channels.[2]54.67% of the people of the densely populated area lives in the urban areas and 45.33% lives in the rural areas.[3]

As of 2011[update] India census, Deara had a population of 11,994; of this, 6,018 are male, 5,976 female.[4] It has an average literacy rate of 60.64%, lower than the national average of 74.04%.

Local roads link Deara to State Highway 3.[6]

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[7]
