Upon graduation from law school, Cole served as a
From 2006 to 2019, he was a partner at Organ Cole LLP in Columbus, Ohio, where he represented clients in complex litigation and intellectual property matters.[1]
Federal judicial service
On May 3, 2019, President Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate Cole to serve as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. On May 13, 2019, President Trump nominated Cole to the seat vacated by Judge Susan J. Dlott, who assumed senior status on May 31, 2018.[3] On June 26, 2019, a hearing on his nomination was held before the Senate Judiciary Committee.[4] On July 18, 2019, his nomination was reported out of committee by a 16–6 vote.[5] On December 3, 2019, the United States Senate invoked cloture on his nomination by a 62–29 vote.[6] On December 4, 2019, his nomination was confirmed by a 63–30 vote.[7] He received his judicial commission on December 5, 2019.[8]
