Josefine Opsahl (born January 18, 1992) is a Danish composer and cellist. She studied both classical and contemporary music at the Royal Danish Conservatory and Northwestern University (IL, US), and has degree as a Soloist in Contemporary Creative Art at South Danish Conservatory. She works as a composer and solo artist with cello and live electronics and Live Sound Design.

She has composed two operas, ballet music for the The Royal Danish Ballet, and numerous symphonic works, among other a cello concerto and a symphonic work for the Elbphilharmonie.

Her work has been awarded numerous prizes: Receiver of Crown Prince Couple's Awards 2022,[1] The Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2021,[2] The Wilhelm Hansen Foundation's Prize of Honor 2020.[3]

Her works as composer have premiered in the USA, Europe, China, Brasil and Argentina, og her latest record, solo debut album, Atrium[4] was released on label Dacapo Records (august 2022) [5]. Atrium and was awarded the Danish Broadcasting Corperation listeners Award, and Round Glass Music Award (US).

  • Hands[8] (2023) cello concerto large symphonic orchestra commissioned by Århus Sinfonietta for Spot Festival 2023
  • DrømmeDøden[9](2021) opera commissioned by Nordic Opera premiered at The New Opera, Esbjerg Denmark, The Royal Danish Playhouse and Folkoperan in Stockholm (SE), maj-juni 2022,
  • Drei Bewegungen des Elektrischen Körpers (2021) written the Copenhagen Boys Choir, The Royal Ballet with choreography by ballet master Nikolaj Hübbe and Livgardens blæserkvintet, commissioned and premiered in the honour of HM Queen of Denmark at her official state visit in Germany (DE) November 2021,
  • I Walk I Bleed (2020-21) concert and performance for 10 celli commissioned by Click Festival 2020, repremiere at theater Sort/Hvid 2021,
  • Noli Turbare Circulos Meos (2020) for Esbjerg Ensemblet
  • Ekklesiaterion (2021) for solo cello og kvadrofonisk højttalersystem Intonal Festival[10] i Malmö (SE)
