Pookoo is an upcoming American animated adventure comedy film written and directed by Nathan Greno. The film is being produced by Skydance Animation and is set for release on Netflix in 2025.

Premise

A small woodland creature and a majestic bird, two natural sworn enemies of The Valley, magically trade places and set off on an adventure of a lifetime.^[1]

Production

In February 2018, it was announced that Nathan Greno had signed a multi-year contract with Skydance Media to write and direct an animated film provisionally titled Powerless, as well as consult on projects in development.^[2] In July 2022, the film was greenlit by Apple Inc. and given the official title Pookoo.^[3] In October 2023, Netflix took over the distribution rights of the film as part of a new multi-year deal with Skydance Animation. At that time, Siddhartha Khosla was revealed to be composing the film's score.^[1]

Release

Pookoo was originally intended to be released on Apple TV+, but in October 2023, Netflix took over the film's distribution rights from Apple, as part of a new multi-year deal with Skydance Animation, while setting it for a 2025 release.^[1]
