Gary Steven Krist (born April 29, 1945) is an American convicted of kidnapping and the trafficking of undocumented immigrants.
Early life
Krist was born in
Mackle kidnapping
Krist is best known for
life in prison.[1]
While imprisoned, Krist wrote a book, Life: The Man Who Kidnapped Barbara Jane Mackle, published in 1972.[4]

Krist was
medical residency.[1]
Later crimes
Krist chartered a boat to
Federal Correctional Institution in Marianna, Florida. He was released from prison in November 2010.[7][8]
On August 27, 2012, in
supervised release for violating his probation. He had left the country without permission, sailing to Cuba and South America on his sailboat. Judge Granade sentenced Krist to 40 months imprisonment.[9] The Federal Bureau of Prisons indicates he was released on July 2, 2015.[10]
