Georg Weissacher is an Austrian fashion designer and entrepreneur known for his work in menswear design.[1] He is the founder of the fashion label POAN (Peoples of All Nations).[2][3]
Early life and education
Georg Weissacher was born in Salzburg, Austria.[4][5] He attended HLMB Hallein, where he studied fashion design.[6]
Career
Weissacher worked as Vice Head of menswear at the Vivienne Westwood design team in London, collaborating with designers Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler.[7][8][9][10]
In 2016, Weissacher founded POAN, a fashion label known for blending knitwear with tailored clothing to achieve a balance between comfort and traditional style.[3][11][12] The label, "POAN," emphasizes inclusivity and sustainability.[13][10] The label releases bimonthly retail collections as limited edition runs.
Weissacher has presented his debut collection at Paris Fashion Week.[5] He has also presented his collection, "The Phenomenon of Man," at the White Man & Woman event in Milan, held in partnership with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.[14][7]
In addition to his work in fashion, Weissacher has produced short films to promote POAN, integrating clothing design with narrative storytelling, in line with the concept of "Gesamtkunstwerk".[15][16] Weissacher serves as both creative director and director, drawing inspiration from C.G. Lewis and Erich Fromm to explore themes such as love. His work includes the film "Der Hund" based on Dürrenmatt's novel.[4][16] The short film featuring Peter Lohmeyer was produced to convey the inspiration and emotion of the clothing line.[5]
