Gervarrius Owens (born October 14, 1999) is an American football safety for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M before transferring to Houston.

Early years

Owens was born and initially grew up in

Atlanta, Georgia and then to Moore, Oklahoma. He attended Southmoore High School.[1] Owens was rated a three-star recruit and committed to play college football at Kansas State.[2]

College career

Owens enrolled at Kansas State during the summer of 2017, but did not report to the team. He transferred to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College before the start of the season.[3] Owens made 51 tackles with three interceptions as a freshman.[4] After the season, he committed and later signed to transfer to Minnesota.[5] Owens was later released from his National Letter of Intent in order to transfer to Houston.[6]

Owens became a starter during his first season with the Houston Cougars.[7] He was named first team All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) as a junior after making 52 tackles with two interceptions.[8][9] Owens was named second team All-AAC as a senior.[10]

Owens was selected in the seventh round, 254th overall, of the 2023 NFL draft by the New York Giants.[13]
