History

Gilliam was platted in 1878.^[4] The community was named after a local farmer and landowner, W. T. Gilliam. And his brother Fayette Henry Gilliam.^[5][6] The Gilliam has been in operation since 1879.^[7]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.25 square miles (0.65 km²), all land.^[8]
