Hartford (also called Croton) is a
History
Hartford was laid out in 1824, and named after Hartford, Connecticut, the native home of a share of the early settlers.[4]
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.55 square miles (1.42 km2), all land.[5]
Although the village is named Hartford, its post office is named Croton.[6]

The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.18.
The median age in the village was 37.4 years. 26.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 26.5% were from 25 to 44; 23.9% were from 45 to 64; and 15.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 47.9% male and 52.1% female.
