Forgotten password

I forgot my password to my old account. Is there any way I can access it? Thanks Govols25 (talk) 06:32, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot email

Hello, this is User:WikiOriginal-9. I forgot my password and I don't remember what the email was. I think it started with "mail" followed by random numbers/[email protected]. Could someone tell me what it is please? 174.251.209.119 (talk) 19:50, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Few people have access to email addresses and they aren't revealed for privacy reasons. You can send a temporary password to the address at Special:PasswordReset but you cannot see what the address is. User:WikiOriginal-9 has a large edit count. If you have good evidence it's you then you can try the email address at Help:Logging in#What if I forget my password? and ask to set a new email address for the account. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:33, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for your help. I read that section but I don't see any option to change the email. I don't have anything that remembers my Wikipedia account's password nor do do I have a committed identity. 173.80.93.180 (talk) 23:18, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I meant you could send an email which asks to set a new email address. I don't know their practice but if you have other good evidence than a committed identity then they might evaluate it. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:08, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: I logged in. I got my password off my old computer. Thanks. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 03:21, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Logged out upon switching languages?

Why am I recently getting logged out when switching to different languages on Wiki to check for article translations? Anyone else noticing this behavior? It makes editing international subjects rather tedious. - Indefensible (talk) 05:12, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Indefensible: When you return to the Wiki that you started out from - presumably English Wikipedia - are you logged in or not? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 11:17, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Logged out. I saw a discussion on unified accounts in the archive, but pretty sure mine is unified. - Indefensible (talk) 17:15, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Something is happening to your login cookie. Anyway, try
WP:VPT, because this is not a help desk page. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 18:09, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply

Ok, thanks, was not sure where to go for technical issues. - Indefensible (talk) 19:02, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Logging in to Wikilibrary

The WL page doesn't appear to explain how to log-in to it. I'm already logged-in as an editor, but the WL is asking for a login. Am I really expected to create a different username/password account just to 'take advantage' of this resource?

There used to be a way to use one user/pw to cover multiple 'accounts'. Didn't see that in 'Global Preferences'. I'm disinclined to have to log-in /log-out twice. Twang (talk) 20:43, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@

Thanks for the quick reply.
I was referring to:
Wikipedia:The_Wikipedia_Library
which is what (I'm assuming) needs to be signed into in order to gain access to a list of paywalled resources.
In particular, when I went to this page:
https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/
a link at the bottom says to 'Login via Wikipedia'

But then it goes to a page ON wikimedia (NOT via Wikipedia)
When I click that, it loads a page titled 'Log in' located at (beginning of loooooooong URL) 'meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php...'
and reads in the middle '...Special:
OAuth/authenticate&returntoquery...'
which asks for a name and password
which I might do ONCE IF it's legit. I found no documentation on this step anywhere, so if it's out there, it's well-hidden. Twang (talk) 05:30, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is no single website called Wikimedia. I assume that you refer to
WP:SUL, as I mentioned earlier. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:37, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply

Lost password, no email instructions

Thoughts from anyone? Bluerasberry (talk) 16:13, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bluerasberry: Isn't the new material already covered by the second bullet point in the preceding section? -- John of Reading (talk) 06:34, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
