Hollowayville, Illinois

Hollowayville is a village in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 36 at the 2020 census.^[2] It is part of the Ottawa Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Just west of Hollowayville is St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church that was established in 1849 by German immigrants.^[3]

Hollowayville is one of the oldest villages in Bureau County. It was the former site of a coal mine Hollowayville boasts one of the state's lowest sales tax rates.

Geography

Hollowayville is located at 41°21′54″N 89°17′41″W / 41.36500°N 89.29472°W / 41.36500; -89.29472 (41.364952, -89.294625).^[4]

According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Hollowayville has a total area of 0.05 square miles (0.13 km²), all land.^[5]
