The town has a climate characterized by hot and humid summers, and cold winters (Köppen climate classification Cfa). The average annual temperature in Iijima is 11.2 °C (52.2 °F). The average annual rainfall is 2,014.1 mm (79.30 in) with July as the wettest month. The temperatures are highest on average in August, at around 23.3 °C (73.9 °F), and lowest in January, at around −0.7 °C (30.7 °F).[2]
