Jan Vaník (7 May 1891[1][2] – 12 June 1950) was a footballer who appeared for both the Austria and Czechoslovakia national teams.[3] He competed in the men's tournament at the 1920 Summer Olympics.[4] On a club level, he played for AC Sparta Prague and SK Slavia Prague,[5] becoming the top goalscorer of the Czechoslovak First League in the 1925 season.[2]

Club career

Jan Vaník was very interested in the education of young football players and already at

Frantisek Planicka.[6] In 1918 Jan scored a total of 28 goals including friendlies. In 1920, Jan scored a total of 54 goals including friendlies. In 1921, Jan scored a total of 36 goals including friendlies.[7]
