Jeremiah Kinane (1884–1959) was an

Roman Catholic Church. He served as the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, then Coadjutor Archbishop of Cashel & Emly until when he became the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cashel & Emly.[1]

Kinane was born in Gortnahulla,

on 11 September 1946.

A noted anti-Communist, he opposed various left wing and republican organisations during his time[2] and was involved in controversy in the dismissal of teachers who were Communist in schools run by him.[citation needed]

He served as secretary to the bishops conference in Maynooth. He died in office on 18 February 1959, aged 74.[3]
