In the week ending January 25, 2018, the original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton: An American Musical skipped past the original Broadway cast recording of Jersey Boys in total sales. Hamilton now reigns as the fifth-largest-selling cast album since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.Ahead of Hamilton and Jersey Boys on the top-selling cast albums list of the Nielsen era: the highlights edition of the original London cast recording of The Phantom of the Opera, with 4.972 million sold; the original Broadway cast recording of Wicked (2.728 million); the original cast recording of Mamma Mia! (1.717 million); and the original Broadway cast recording of Les Miserables (1.661 million).
Jersey Boys won four 2006 Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Actor (John Lloyd Young), Best Featured Actor (Christian Hoff) and Best Lighting (Howell Binkley).
