Bridges was born at
He was elected a
Bridges's collection of books and prints was sold by auction. The sale of the entire library of over 4,000 books and manuscripts started on 7 February 1726;[2] his collection of prints was sold on 24 March 1726.[3] Both auctions, held at his chambers in Lincoln's Inn, were handled by Christopher Cock.

In 1718 he was elected a
Bridges's manuscripts fill thirty folio volumes, with five quarto volumes of descriptions of churches collected for him and four similar volumes in his own handwriting. These went to the
A copy of the work is preserved among the manuscript collections of the British Library (Add MSS 32118-32122), illustrated with sketches, engravings, and additions in print and manuscript.[5] It was bequeathed by William Dash to the British Museum, where it was deposited in 1883, and subsequently became part of the British Library collections.
