John Thomas Mateer (born December 4, 1995), also known as Johnny Saint Marks,[3] is an American musician, filmmaker, and entertainment entrepreneur. He grew up in Wantagh, New York.[4][5] Mateer was an early-era content creator on YouTube in the late 2000s, and his first media appearances resulted from the viral content that he created on the platform.[6][4] Shifting his focus towards music at the beginning of the 2010s, Mateer released his first extended play, Love is Not a Lifestyle, in the summer of 2011.[7] He founded the post-production company, Riot Motion.[8][9]

John Thomas Mateer was born on December 4, 1995, in the village of Mineola, New York, to parents Carol and John Mateer.

In January 2023, Mateer announced on his website that a division of Riot Motion specializing in virtual reality, Vizsy, was in the beginning stages of development.[38][39] In November 2023, it was announced on Viszy.com that the company, consisting on 15 developers, was in the process of creating application software for visionOS.[40]
Personal life
Mateer is a pantheist and of Irish descent.[41] Mateer has been openly gay ever since coming out in 2010 at the age of 14, and he has described his coming out as having been a positive experience for him.[42][43] Mateer is a resident of Saint Marks Place in New York City, and this is where his pseudonym, Johnny Saint Marks, originated from.[44] He is the cousin of former New York Stock Exchange Chief Executive Officer, Richard Grasso.[45]
