Early life and education

Pretty was born on 18 October 1945. She was educated at

New Hall, Cambridge, graduating with Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.[1]

Academic career

Honours

In November 2009, Pretty was appointed

Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) 'for services to higher education'.[5]

On 9 March 2000, she was elected

Personal life

Pretty was married to fellow archaeologist Tjeerd van Andel.[8]
