Kausik Chattopadhyay is an
Biography
Kausik Chattopadhyay, born in the Indian state of West Bengal, secured his honours degree from the University of Calcutta in 1996 and continued there to complete his master's studies in 1998.[2] His doctoral research was in biochemistry which earned him a PhD from the University of Calcutta in 2003 after which he did his post-doctoral studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. On his return to India in 2009, he joined the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali (IISER) where he serves as a professor at the Department of Biological Sciences.[3] At IISER, he heads the Cytolysin Study Group as its principal investigator.[4]

Awards and honors
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards in 2014.[1] He received the Prof. B.K. Bachhawat Memorial Young Scientist Award of the National Academy of Sciences, India in 2015.[11]
