Larry Stephen McCall (born September 8, 1952) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the New York Yankees (19771978) and the Texas Rangers (1979). He bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

Playing career

McCall was signed by the Baltimore Orioles on February 27, 1971, as an amateur free agent. On September 16, 1974, he was purchased by the California Angels,[1][2] but was returned to the Orioles by the Angels on October 25 of the year.[1][2] On April 10, 1976, he was released by the Orioles, and on the same day, signed with the New York Yankees as a free agent.[1][2]

McCall made his Major League debut on September 10, 1977, with the Yankees against the

Cleveland Indians for David Clyde and Jim Norris.[1][2]

Coaching career

McCall served as the pitching coach with the

in 2003.

In 2005, McCall was named the winner of the Cal Ripken Sr. Player Development Award. McCall was the

bullpen coach for Baltimore during the second half of the 2006 season.[4] His 21 years as a coach in the organization came to an end on September 24, 2010, when the Orioles declined to retain him.[5]
