History
The community was established as a station stop on the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad, which opened in 1887. A post office opened at LeFlore, Indian Territory on August 26, 1887. The community was named for the LeFlore family.[5]

LeFlore is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) west of Poteau.[7]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.6 km2), of which 1.4 square miles (3.6 km2) is land and 0.71% is water.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 115.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.2 males.
