A post office was established at Fanshawe, Indian Territory on March 31, 1891.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 22.7 square miles (58.8 km2), of which 22.6 square miles (58.5 km2) is land and 0.1 square mile (0.3 km2) (0.57%) is water.
