Military career
Alston was
Companion of the Distinguished Service Order in 1919.[2]
On 17 July 1929 Alston was promoted to the rank of
Commander of the Order of the British Empire, and served as Colonel of the Royal Welch Fusiliers between 1947 and 1948.[5]
