Mayang Imphal is located at 24°36′N 93°54′E / 24.60°N 93.90°E / 24.60; 93.90. on the bank of the Imphal river, also known as the Manipur river. On the southwest, there is the Loktak lake, the largest fresh water lake in the northeast India.^[2]

The population comprises different religions such as the Hindus, Muslims (also called the Meitei Pangal), the Meitei Ancient Religion, and Christians.
