Norma Elena Morandini (born 31 March 1948) is an Argentine journalist and politician. She was elected to the Argentine Senate in 2009, and was nominated as running mate by Progressive Front presidential candidate Hermes Binner for the 2011 campaign
Life and times
Morandini was born in
She sought exile in
Revista Cambio 16, as well as for the Portuguese magazine Visao.[3] She met left-wing journalist and Brazilian exile Flávio de Freitas Tavares, and they were married in 1980. Her career as a correspondent for Cambio 16 first took her to Brazil in 1978, and despite being separated from her husband (who was unable to return to Brazil, where he had been tortured),[4] she would live there until 1984.[5]
Morandini covered the
Martín Fierro Award for her work in the program in 1994, as well as two Broadcasting Awards.[3]
She established a short lived
Public Television.[3]
Morandini was elected to the
ticket[1] that resulted in the election of both to the Argentine Senate.[3] She was appointed ranking member of the Committee on the Environment and Sustainable Growth during her tenure in the Senate, and on 11 June 2011, Santa Fe Governor and Socialist presidential candidate Hermes Binner nominated Morandini as his running mate on their Broad Progressive Front ticket for the 2011 campaign.[6]
