Club career

El Azzouzi had been in the youth set ups in the Netherlands for

Vitesse and played for Emmen in the Eerste Divisie for one season, helping them gain promotion as champions to the Eredivisie at the end of the 2021–22 season. He signed a three year contract in Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in July 2022, with the option of an extra year.[1][2] He made his debut for Union SG on 6 August 2022 starting a 3–0 away defeat against K.V. Mechelen.[3]

On 20 July 2023, El Azzouzi signed with Bologna in Italy.[4]

International career

Born in the Netherlands, El Azzouzi is Moroccan by descent.[5] He was called up to the Morocco U23s in March 2023.[6]

In June 2023, he was included in the final squad of the under-23 national team for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco itself,[7][8] where the Atlas Lions won their first title[9][10] and qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics.[9][11]

In October 2023, he was called up to the Morocco senior national team for the first time.[12] He made his senior debut for Morocco on 17 October 2023, starting a 3–0 home win against Liberia in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match.[13]

Personal life

He is the twin brother of the footballer Anouar El Azzouzi.[14]
