In 1942 the painting was stolen from Robert McDougall Art Gallery in Christchurch, New Zealand. The painting has never been found.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
The painting's frame was on display from September 2016-January 2017 at Waikato Museum in a exhibition curated by Penelope Jackson called An Empty Frame: Crimes of Art in New Zealand.[8][9]
