São João da Barra (Portuguese pronunciation:

Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Its population was 36,423 (2020) and its area is 459 km².[2]
It is home to the Superporto do Açu.[3]

History

Until the arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil in the 16th century, the entire region of the mouth of the

Dom Pedro II. After a period of decay for most of the 20th century, the city prospered again with the discovery of oil in the Campos Basin at the end of that century.[6]
