Schroon Lake CDP is located in the center of the town of Schroon, at the northern end of Schroon Lake, the water body.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the Schroon Lake CDP has a total area of 3.68 square miles (9.54 km2), of which 2.89 square miles (7.48 km2) is land and 0.80 square miles (2.07 km2), or 27.34%, is water.[3]
