Sebeka (

U.S. Highway 71, State Highway 227, and the historic Jefferson Highway (now Jefferson Avenue), are three of the main routes in the city.

History

Sebeka originally grew around the depot of the K-line branch of the Great Northern Railway, which first came through the area in 1892.^[7] The first major industry in the area was logging.^[7] The town's first store was the Anderson Pioneer Store.^[8] The town was incorporated on March 19, 1898. Its population has gone from 233 in 1900 to a peak of 818 in 1960.^[8]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.47 square miles (6.40 km²), all of it land.^[10]

The Redeye River flows through the city.^[11]

The average household size was 2.21 and the average family size was 2.96.

The median age in the city was 38.3 years. 26.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.3% were from 25 to 44; 23.1% were from 45 to 64; and 20.7% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 47.8% male and 52.2% female.

The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females, there were 88.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.4 males.
